Q&A with Baz Street, Head of Business Development at Be.EV

Name: Baz Street

Role: Head of Business Development, Be.EV

Who are Be.EV?

Be.EV are among the UK's fastest-growing EV charge point operators. We provide fully funded, hassle-free EV charging infrastructure at zero cost to landlords. Owned by Octopus Energy Generation and funded by NatWest and KfW IPEX-Bank, we manage the entire process - from site design to installation, operation, and maintenance. Our solution helps landowners attract more customers, boost dwell time and spend, generate passive income, and support a greener future.

How many locations do Be.EV currently have?

We currently operate more than 800 EV charge points across the UK and have secured sites for over 1,000 more.

Target locations?

We’re looking for sites that are:

  • Publicly accessible and highly visible from the roadside
  • In high-traffic areas (20,000+ vehicles per day)
  • Near major roads or routes (within 2 minutes of access)
  • Located in places like retail parks, drive-thrus, roadside locations, and car parks
  • Ideally with on-site amenities (e.g. coffee shops, food outlets)

How many new locations are you targeting?

We are actively looking to secure hundreds of new sites in the medium term, across the UK.

Size requirements?

We are flexible:

  • From 0.2 acres of land for a dedicated hub
  • Or just 2–24 parking bays in higher-footfall locations

Freehold or Leasehold?

We’re flexible:

  • Happy to purchase sites outright (freehold)
  • Or enter into lease agreements for land or bays

How are deals typically structured?

  • Flexible commercial models, including revenue share or traditional ground rent
  • No cost to landowners – we fund all infrastructure and ongoing maintenance
  • Secure, long-term income with 20+ year leases

Recent openings or new locations in the pipeline?

Be.EV is rapidly expanding its network, having recently secured 22 retail and leisure park sites in partnership with Schroders Capital, where over 200 ultra-rapid chargers will be installed at high-traffic destinations like IKEA and Sainsbury’s. In Manchester, the landmark 'Charging Oasis' has just launched in the city centre, a one-of-a-kind, community hub that has transformed a disused old petrol station into a welcoming, green EV charging destination featuring a Caffè Nero Express store. The network is set to grow further with expansion into London planned for the near future.

Do you pay Intro fees?

Yes, Be.EV offer:

  • Minimum guaranteed fee of £5,000 per site
  • We aim to respond to all introductions and enquiries within 48 hours
